2018 MMHF 'A Hunt for the Cure' Gala Event

2018 Event Coverage

In partnership with the Manitoba Metis Federation, the MMHF held its second annual fundraising event on May 12, 2018. “A Hunt for the Cure” Gala was hosted to support the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. All proceeds from Gala dinner were directed to patient and family support services, allowing CancerCare Manitoba to continue its efforts toward improved care for underserved populations in general and Métis, First Nations, and Inuit peoples in particular.

The event took place at the Fairmont Winnipeg, with more than 400 people in attendance. The theme for the evening was traditional Métis culture. This theme was carried throughout the night starting from the front lobby, where guests were greeted upon arrival with traditional Métis music and directed to the second floor by volunteers dressed in traditional Métis attire. Once on the second floor, the reception featured a traditional Métis hunting cabin with Métis dancing and fiddle music provided by Clint and Riley Dutiaume. In the cabin, guests were able to try on traditional clothing and have their photos taken.

The MMHF would like to thank the many volunteers, donors, sponsors and guests for helping make this event such a great success. With this support, the MMHF raised $65,000 to support CancerCare Manitoba's Toward Improved Care for Underserved Populations program. The MMHF plans to make the “Embrace our Beginnings” 3rd Annual Gala Fundraiser—to be held on May 12, 2019—an even greater success!
