Message from the President

Education and learning have always been central to the Me´tis Nation’s culture. The Red River Resistance was, in part, about ensuring access to appropriate schooling for our children. In 1870, cultural expression was important and intended to be passed to our children by guaranteeing the right to the French language and to education in the Catholic Schools. This was part of our Treaty – becoming key articles in the Manitoba Act. Read more

About the MMF

The Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) is the official democratic and self-governing political representative for the Metis Nation’s Manitoba Metis Community.

The MMF promotes the political, social, cultural, and economic interests and rights of the Metis in Manitoba. In addition, the MMF delivers programs and services to our community including: child and family services, justice, housing, youth, education, human resources, economic development and natural resources.
