Manitoba Metis Federation Launch new Government Website

August 11, 2013

After a year in development, the Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) is pleased to announce the launching of its new website (http://www.mmf.mb.ca).

The site has been designed as a growing resource of information for all Metis citizens, the general public, as well as, the MMF’s public and private stakeholders to be kept update and informed of the MMF’s continued work and its related services, initiatives and on-going developments.

Given the recent Land Claims case, interest in the MMF has increased dramatically and with that, the need for more information. The MMF government is comprised of seven separate regions with Metis citizens spanning both rural and urban areas equally across the province. This geographic diversity presented questionable web access and internet conductivity. To address this challenge, the new website has been completely re-coded from the ground up. A few of goals with the new website were to make it faster, easier to navigate for users, and easier for the MMF to be managed/updated quickly.

The website includes specific, detailed sections dedicated to MMF governance, social programs, financial services, MMF educational and health affiliates, news and events, as well as, membership and harvesters information for registration. The site also includes a diverse set of links to Metis organizations and representatives within the Metis Nation across Canada.

Visitors will also find updated information such as, media releases, video, future plans and strategic initiatives. Since the site includes downloadable informational materials that is being developed regularly, there is also the option for visitors to register and be informed of any updates on a timely basis.
