Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) responds to Manitoba Premier Greg Selinger's cabinet reshuffle

Officials of the Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) expressed their acknowledgment and interest in Manitoba Premier Greg Selinger's cabinet reshuffle.

President David Chartrand, speaking on behalf of the Manitoba Metis Federation, conveyed his congratulations to Jennifer Howard as finance minister, Stan Struthers as minister of municipal government, Kerri Irvin-Ross as head of child and family services, Erin Selby as the new minister of health, Ron Lemieux as minister of tourism, culture, sport and consumer protection and Theresa Oswald in the newly created department of jobs and economy.

Newly appointed backbenchers, James Allum as the new minister of education, Erna Braun as the minister of labour and immigration, and Sharon Blady being in charge of healthy living and seniors also good wishes from President Chartrand.

President David Chartrand echoed his support of Premier Selinger's comments "on building a strong economy and on creating good jobs and opportunities for families."

"These are the very same priorities the Manitoba Metis Federation focuses on for our Metis citizens. We trust the new cabinet ministers will manage their portfolios responsibly and continue to keep in mind the impact their decisions have on the Metis citizens of Manitoba." President Chartrand then went on to thank veteran ministers Christine Melnick (immigration minister), Jim Rondeau (consumer affairs minister), and Nancy Allan (education minister) for all their hard work in the past.
