President David Chartrand Expresses Thanks and Appreciation to Manitoba Hydro CEO Scott Thomson

June 26, 2015

Winnipeg, MB --- After learning Manitoba Hydro CEO Scott Thomson was stepping down in September, Manitoba Metis Federation President David Chartrand expressed sadness regarding his planned departure.

“Scott Thomson is a commendable leader. It has been good to have an opportunity to work with a CEO that listened to and did their best to understand the challenges faced by the Metis people over the decades as they attempted to work with Manitoba Hydro,” stated President Chartrand.

Since joining Manitoba Hydro in Feburary 2012, Scott had to take on the challenging task of finding his way through a number of issues facing Hydro and still do what is best not only for Hydro but for all of Manitoba. His short stay brought a new approach to building relationships within the province and those impacted by Manitoba’s hydro development. His attitude and understanding in working with the Manitoba Metis has opened up new discourse and opportunity for partnership that were not available before.

“Scott had to fill some mighty big shoes and he was doing so admirably. He has not only done a commendable job on behalf of Manitoba, he has also did a fine job in his dealings with the Manitoba Metis,” further stated President Chartrand, “I am saddened to see him go, but I understand his need to be near his family.  That desire is just further demonstration of his compassion and character.  With Scott, it is not just about business and money. His ability to make decisions that also takes into consideration the human element is what makes him a good leader.”

The Manitoba Metis Federation and its citizens extended a heartfelt thank you and best wishes to Scott Thomson as he embarks upon a new chapter in his life.
