Winnipeg, MB - In keeping with the generous spirit of the Season, the Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) will be making a donation to the Christmas Cheer Board at its Annual Christmas Open House on Friday, December 4, 2015.

“I am very pleased to announce our annual donation as part of our longstanding commitment to the valuable services provided every year by the Christmas Cheer Board” says Anita Campbell, MMF Minister of Finance.

Members of the Public are invited to join with Staff and Elected Representatives of the Manitoba Métis Government 1 pm, December 4, 2015 in Room 16 at the MMF Home Office located at 150 Henry Avenue. Guests will have an opportunity to tour the MMF building and enjoy an assortment of Holiday goodies. Each department will be festively decorated to reflect the Joy of the Holidays.

At 2 pm the MMF will be presenting its annual donation to Kai Madsen of the Christmas Cheer Board. The Christmas Cheer Board was started in 1919 by a number of Winnipeg churches. The original intent was to provide Christmas Hampers and toys for the widows and orphans of the soldiers lost during World War One. Today the Christmas Cheer Board provides assistance to families receiving Employment Income Assistance and to many working poor.

“Our Métis government is committed to ensuring that every child from every community receives the Christmas that they dream of and fully deserve,” explains Minister Campbell.
