Throne Speech Commitments - Inclusive Consultation and Partnerships

May 17, 2016

Winnipeg, MB – The Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) is pleased to see the new Manitoba government’s emphasis on promoting education, health care, and economic development through creating partnerships as set forth in today’s Throne Speech.

“I appreciate the Premier making consultation a priority in our province’s economic innovation,” said President David Chartrand. “Building partnerships is a vital aspect of future growth and improvement. As the Founders of Manitoba, the Métis look forward to working with the government on furthering Manitoba-made initiatives that build a better province for the Métis and, indeed, all Manitobans.”

The Métis Nation contributes to economic growth in Manitoba through strong business leadership and sound fiscal management. As hardworking taxpayers, the Métis have an interest in developing meaningful economic opportunities. The MMF anticipates offering valuable skills, resources, and knowledge in partnership with the Premier’s Enterprise Team and other leaders.

“The Métis have a history of being successful entrepreneurs and leaders,” stated President Chartrand. “We welcome the opportunity for meaningful partnerships with this government and others in advancing economic development and other sustainable initiatives in Manitoba.”
