International Women’s Day – March 8, 2017

Winnipeg, MB – On this day, the Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) and the Infinity Women Secretariat express their appreciation for all the women of the Métis Nation, and their continued dedication to our Nation’s prosperity.

International Women’s Day, previously known as International Working Women’s Day, is celebrated every year and meant to empower women by recognizing their many achievements and contributions to society, while also acknowledging the many challenges that women continue to face while advocating for gender equality.

This year, the United Nations has stated that the theme for International Women’s Day is “Women in the Changing World of Work: Planet 50-50 by 2030”.

“It is important that we take the time to acknowledge this significant and empowering day for all women,” says Infinity Women Spokesperson Anita Campbell. “Today, we celebrate our Métis women and express our appreciation for their contributions to our communities both at home and in the workplace. As a Nation we must continue to strive for equality.”

Believe in Yourself; Believe in Métis.

The Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) is the official democratic and self-governing political representative for the Métis Nation’s Manitoba Métis Community. The Manitoba Métis are Canada’s Negotiating Partner in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.
