Celebrating the Life and Legacy of a Great Metis Leader

WINNIPEG- The Metis Government of Manitoba, along with members of the general public, will join together on November 16th and pay tribute to Manitoba's father of Confederation and founder of our province. That is the day that marks the death of this great Metis Leader, a man who sacrificed his life in pursuit of the freedoms that all Manitobans' enjoy today. It is especially significant that this particular commemoration takes place in: this "Year of The Metis Veteran."

"We welcome all Manitobans' to take part in this very special day and celebrate the memory, life and legacy of this truly remarkable man." said Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) President David Chartrand. "In his 41 years of life, he was able to achieve social and political accomplishments on such a scale that he will always be regarded as an extremely important figure in Canadian history for all to remember"
