Manitoba Metis Federation Sets Date for Emergency Fisheries Meeting

Winnipeg, MB – On Tuesday, February 13, 2018, the Manitoba Metis Federation will host its emergency meeting in response to the Manitoba fisheries crisis. The meeting will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Clarion Hotel in Winnipeg. The MMF will be covering the cost for active, licensed Métis fishers to attend.

“It is incredibly important that all of our Métis fishers are able to attend and voice their concerns around this crisis,” said MMF President David Chartrand. “The Metis Government will cover travel and accommodations for active, licensed Métis fishers, especially given their recent financial hardships.”

Interested fishers and plant owners must register to attend the meeting by contacting the MMF Engagement & Consultation department at 204-586-8474. Travel information will be gathered at that time to ensure all fishers are given an opportunity to attend.
