MMF Sends 100 Youth to Tim Horton Camp Whiteshell

March 26, 2018

Winnipeg, MB – Today, 100 Metis Youth are on their way to camp thanks to the Manitoba Metis Federation, in partnership with the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation.

“It’s a great feeling to know that these Youth get to experience something special that they otherwise wouldn’t,” said David Chartrand, President of the Manitoba Metis Federation. “We are honoured to be able to support our Youth through this initiative.”

The camp, which runs through Thursday, March 29, is being held on the shores of Sylvia Lake, inside the boundaries of Whiteshell Provincial Park. It offers a challenge course, canoeing, nature trails, creative arts and more. All activities are designed to develop life and leadership skills, which provide the building blocks for Youth engagement.

“When I was a kid, I would have loved the opportunity to go to a camp like this,” said President Chartrand. “I’m sure these Youth will come away with memories to last a lifetime.”

Applications were accepted throughout February for Youth between the ages of 10 and 14. Campers were selected by MMF’s Provincial Youth Advisory Council.
