Manitoba Metis Federation, Manitoba and Hydro Set to Meet Today

Winnipeg, MB – Today a meeting is to take place at 3:00 pm in room 334 at the Manitoba Legislature that has been anticipated by all Manitobans. The meeting is the result of the commitment made by President Chartrand at the request of Minister Cullen - for a two-week reset which has turned into three weeks.  The Metis government has followed through with the rules of the process that have been in place through the Turning the Page Agreement (TPA).

At the TPA Steering Committee, the provincial representatives advised our legal counsel that they have no authority to make any decisions.

It is anticipated that at today’s meeting, Minister Cullen will report back on his “reboot” and his efforts to meet with the Premier and Cabinet to find a solution for all parties.  The MMF also anticipates a response on the points developed and agreed to by the Steering Committee for the Principals to consider in an attempt to resolve the dispute.

This agreement has an impact on the respect of Metis rights, the law, Canada’s Constitution and the Honour of the Crown and affects all Manitobans and ratepayers, including the Citizens of the Manitoba Metis Community.  Following today’s meeting, Manitoba and our Crown Corporation will either find themselves part of a solution or in a very difficult legal position.

Believe in Yourself; Believe in Métis.

The Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) is the official democratic and self-governing political representative for the Métis Nation’s Manitoba Métis Community. The Manitoba Métis are Canada’s Negotiating Partner in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.
