The Manitoba Metis Federation has reached an agreement with Manitoba Hydro that provides for the payment of compensation to identified trappers whose commercial trapping on the Summerberry Marsh was impacted by the operation of the Grand Rapids Generating Station.

There were five communities that were the management authority for Summerberry trapping. These communities were Grand Rapids, Easterville, Moose Lake, Cormorant and The Pas.

The claims by trappers for the communities of Grand Rapids, Easterville and Moose Lake have been settled. This agreement will settle the claims for Summerberry trappers in the communities of Cormorant, The Pas and other trappers from across Manitoba who were invited by the management authority to trap on the Summerberry Marsh.

There are two lists you can review. The first list contain names of Trappers from The Pas and Cormorant. This list is referred to as the First Preference list. The second list contains names of Trappers invited from other communities who trapped the Summerberry Marsh. This list is referred to as the Second Preference list.

First Preference List - Summerberry Marsh Trappers from The Pas/Cormorant (current as of August 12, 2016)

Second Preference List - Trappers Invited from Other Communities to Trap the Summerberry Marsh (current as of August 12, 2016)

How Do I Receive Compensation If My Name Is On The List?

As soon as these meetings are scheduled, the dates and times will be listed below under the section IMPORTANT MEETING INFORMATION

After these first initial meetings, you will be provided an opportunity to schedule a time to meet with MMF Representatives to complete the required paperwork for your claim. DROP IN APPOINTMENTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE - YOU MUST SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT to complete this paperwork.

To show this proof, you must provide a Manitoba issued trapper card containing the name of the Trapper that demonstrates a lawful right to trap in the Summerberry Marsh. You may obtain this information at Manitoba's Conservation Office located in The Pas, Manitoba.
