The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratic Government of the Red River Métis - also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.

The MMF seeks to fill one summer casual/on-call Bus Driver position within our Metis Employment & Training Department located in Winnipeg, MB. The MMF has developed a Youth Leadership Camp for the summer, and the successful candidate will need to be generally available between 8:30am and 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, to transport youth to and from camp outings. The wage for this position is in the range of $18/hour. The position is set to end September 2, 2022.

Job Duties/Competencies:

  • Responsible for transporting Youth Camp participants to and from camp outings and activities at predetermined locations;
  • Ensure safe travel; must operate their vehicles with great care, keep vehicle clean and perform basic maintenance;
  • Ensure that passengers are safe from harm from within the bus and following bus safety protocols;
  • Respectfully interact with passengers of all kinds; must be able to communicate effectively with passengers and their employers about any safety concerns or issues that arise due to traffic, weather, or unforeseen circumstances;
  • Follow a planned route according to a time schedule.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Valid Class 4 Driver's License;
  • Extensive bus driving experience is an asset;
  • Available between 8:30am and 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, for July and August - a schedule will be provided for camp outings that require the bus driver;
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision;
  • Ability to supervise passengers under care;
  • Ability to communicate in a pleasant, courteous and effective manner;
  • Must provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Check, Criminal Record Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check.
