Casual Driver - Metis Child, Family & Community Services (MCFCS) Agency

Hours of Work: Varied, not to exceed 40 hours per week
Classification & Salary: DR 1: $14.46-15.58 per hour, plus mileage
Location: Winnipeg, Interlake, & Eastman MB
The Driver will transport children to family visits, therapy or other appointments. The Worker will be required to pass time while waiting for children to complete their appointments/visits. Documentation skills are critical. Hours worked are flexible, including evenings and weekends.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 preferred
- 2 years experience working with high risk families
- Current CPR or Emergency First Aid is mandatory
- Valid Class 5 Manitoba driver's license and a clear driving abstract
- Access to a vehicle that has a back seat and seat belts
- Ability to relate to children in a warm and caring manner
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated understanding of Metis and Inuit culture and communities
- Ability to maintain highly sensitive and confidential information
- Ability to work cooperatively within a team environment
Key Responsibilities
Provide support services
- Transport babies, toddlers, young children, and teens to and from supported family time, therapy, medical appointments, or other appointments
- Model positive social, communication and assertive skills
- Maintain a safe and nurturing environment
- Pass time while waiting for children/teens to complete their appointments/visits Align resources
- Collaborate with other MCFCS resources and programs Complete administrative and reporting requirements
- Record observations
- Complete incident report if required
Prior to commencing employment the successful applicant will be asked to provide satisfactory results of a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, a Child Abuse Registry Check, Prior Contact Check and a Driver's Abstract upon hire at their own expense. In light of long processing times for these checks we encourage applicants to apply early, as this will reduce wait times to begin employment. A valid Manitoba driver's license and the use of a personal vehicle are requisites as travel within and outside the city is required.
