Cultural Programming Manager - Louis Riel Institute (LRI)

As an affiliate of the Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF), the Louis Riel Institute (LRI) is responsible to the Métis people of Manitoba to provide programs, resources and services related to education and culture.

The Louis Riel Institute seeks to fill one Full-time Cultural Programming Manager position located in Winnipeg, MB.

Under the direction and supervision of the LRI General Manager of the Louis Riel Institute, the Cultural Programing Manager is responsible for overseeing all program and resource development, events, presentations, training workshops, staff supervision and funding proposals, meetings and report writing as related to Cultural Programming (Culture and History) and as required by LRI.

Job Duties/Competencies:

  • Identify performance targets and goals, scheduling, directing and the supervision of department employees

  • Act as a direct contact for the department
  • Prepare submissions, briefing notes and reports for General Manager as requested
  • Act as liaison with funders, creating financial and written reports as required
  • Manage programs and services offered through the department, ensuring capacity and revenue targets are met.
  • Monitor and evaluate budget monthly to ensure financial maintenance and fiscal accountability
  • Promote Métis culture and history through presentations to generate interest and uptake of programs and services.
  • Create ongoing advertisements and promotional documents to ensure knowledge and understanding of department offerings is realized thorough the Métis Community
  • Develop good working relationships and partnerships in the community

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary education in a related field
  • Project management- min 5 years
  • Experience in management and oversite of personnel- min 5 years
  • Experience in financial maintenance and for forecasting
  • Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines while multitasking
  • Comfortable working both collaboratively and independently
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication skills: both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of LRI programs and services
  • Knowledge of MMF programs, services, and governance
  • Acceptable recent Criminal Records/Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Abuse Registry check is required
