The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratic Government of the Red River Métis - also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.

The MMF seeks to fill multiple Maintenance Personnel/Custodian positions within our Operations Department located in Winnipeg, MB. Under the supervision of the Building Supervisor, the Maintenance Personnel/Custodian shall perform a variety of maintenance activities by performing custodial, security and maintenance duties to ensure the safe and efficient operations of the building. The incumbent will assist with carrying out deliveries and pick-ups as required, and perform daily maintenance of the building.

Job Duties/Competencies:

  • Perform day to day building maintenance, including but not limited to repairing broken locks, checking control panels, installing appliances and equipment, replacing light bulbs;
  • Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems such as ventilation;
  • Collaborate with workers and other professionals during renovations;
  • Assist with renovations such as painting, plumbing work, flooring repair and upkeep, electrical repairs, heating and air conditioning system maintenance;
  • Transport materials, equipment, etc. within main offices and to other sites as requested;
  • Assist with deliveries, pick-ups, and errands as required;
  • Maintain entrances and exits free of debris, snow, and ice by breaking up ice, shoveling snow, using a snow blower, and sweeping and collecting waste;
  • Clean occupied offices, elevators, floors, stairways, corridors, and lobby;
  • Dust, mop, sweep, collect waste, etc.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 Diploma;
  • Previous cleaning or maintenance experience an asset;
  • Previous experience with cleaning equipment an asset;
  • Ability to prioritize work to ensure efficient daily cleaning procedures;
  • Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of work materials as appropriate;
  • Knowledge of Métis culture, MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
  • Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle.
