The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the National Government of the Red River Métis - also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.
The MMF seeks to fill one full-time Program Coordinator position within our Housing and Property Management Department located at 670 Main Street in Winnipeg, MB. Reporting to the Program Manager, the Program Coordinator is responsible for organizing, coordinating, and facilitating all cultural programming to support Fre Maachi Transitional Housing Centre participants and Rapid Services which is part of the Reaching Home Program that aims to prevent and reduce homelessness.
Job Duties/Competencies:
- Responsible for coordination of cultural programs, services, and outreach initiatives;
- Organize, facilitate, and lead cultural events, activities, workshops, and programs;
- Plans, prepares, and delivers cultural relevant programming to meet current and future needs of program participants;
- Collaborate with community partners and external stakeholders to help participants establish connections to local community-based supports, services, and programs;
- Liaise and recruit Red River Métis Elders to provide cultural support to participants;
- Provide written monthly and annual reports on program activities and results.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or relevant field; equivalent experience and training may be considered;
- Knowledge of budgeting, bookkeeping and reporting;
- Experience in preparing funding proposals for social service projects and programs;
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills;
- Ability to work evenings and weekends is an asset;
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check, Criminal Record Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check;
- Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset;
- Knowledge of Métis culture, MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
- Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle.
