Location: Portage la Prairie, Brandon or Dauphin, MB

Reporting to the Director of Service, the Program Supervisor will be responsible for the development, coordination, operation and evaluation of a variety of support and prevention programs. There are a number of programs which fall under the purview of Program Supervisor(s). These may include: Family Enhancement, CART, Direct Service Worker's, Cultural, Child Care Facilities, Michif Connect, and Michif Spirit programs. The programs operated by the Agency may vary over time as Agency or community needs change. The breakdown of which specific program will be assigned to each Program Supervisor is subject to their skills, experience, and suitability, therefore the Agency retains flexibility to shift program responsibilities depending on operational needs.

Main areas of Key Responsibilities and Activities


  • Manage staffing activities for a variety of Agency programs including staff recruitment, hiring of staff and staff development.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled individual and group supervision sessions.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of ongoing training for support and prevention program staff.
  • Provide on-going support, advice, and direction to staff.
  • Participate in staff performance management including staff performance evaluations and discipline.
  • Participate in the Agency After-Hours Services rotation.

Program Delivery

  • Provide expert consultation to various support and prevention staff regarding the nuances of their individual programs.
  • Work collaboratively with other Agencies, service providers and other professionals.
  • Develop and facilitate new initiatives in assigned program areas to meet Agency and community needs.
  • Participate in relevant Agency committees which have direct bearing on their programs.
  • Resolve crisis situations and ensure corrective action is taken to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
  • Coordinate the process for the investigation of complaints related to support and prevention programs.
  • Advise the Executive Director, Director of Service, and other relevant Management personnel of potential problems, issues and trends facing their programs and recommend appropriate responses.


  • Recommend and draft policies, standards and procedures related to program development.
  • Effectively manage assigned budgets and other related financial responsibilities.
  • Develop and maintain thorough orientation for support and prevention staff and establish an ongoing training program for those areas.
  • Complete written reports, file recordings, forms and correspondence as required.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of appropriate program management or program reporting mechanisms.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • BSW, or BA combined with five years' experience in related fields
  • Management Training
  • Experience working with Metis and Inuit people.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills in a dynamic environment

Prior to commencing employment the successful applicant will be asked to provide satisfactory results of a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, a Child Abuse Registry Check, Prior Contact Check and a Driver's Abstract upon hire at their own expense. A valid Manitoba driver's license and the use of a personal vehicle are requisites as travel is required.
