The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratic Government of the Red River Métis - also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.

The MMF seeks to fill one part-time Radio Production Assistant position within our Métis Hour x2 Radio Show located in Winnipeg, MB. The position will be required to work 7-10 hours per week, with the radio show occurring on Saturdays from 11am-1pm (required to be in studio during show days). The successful candidate will be working alongside the legendary Ray St. Germain with the intent for this role to evolve into a permanent host. This position will report to the MMF Director of Communications as part of the Communications department.

Job Duties/Competencies:

  • Maintain the technical and media-based duties of the show;
  • Execute on advertisements, job postings, and trivia questions based on script and content that the incumbent will write;
  • Grow the show and viewership base;
  • Research industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies and platforms;
  • Maintain relationship with NCI in collaborative effort;
  • Brief guests, archive previous recordings, answer listener phone calls, edit sound and make sure recording equipment is in full working order;
  • Assist in selecting the music that will be played on-air;

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree in broadcasting, journalism, communications, media production or related field;
  • Minimum one year in-field experience;
  • Experience in maintaining and developing media and radio-specific documents, reports and script;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail;
  • Adobe Creative Suite, HTML, Digital Media Production Training;
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills;
  • Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset;
  • Knowledge of Métis community and culture, MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
  • Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle.
