The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratic Government of the Red River Métis - also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.

The MMF seeks to fill one full-time Victim Liaison Worker position within our Métis Justice Institute Department located at 150 Henry Ave in Winnipeg, MB. The Victim Liaison Worker will be responsible for the coordination of departmental directives and intake for court diversion and justice support. The incumbent will work towards a community-based alternative for court proceedings by assisting with the inclusion of victim input into the court diversion process.

Job Duties/Competencies:

  • Establish and maintain department intake process for Métis Citizen requests for resources, support, and advocacy;
  • Screen case files and calls for assistance through completion of department intake or victim impact statements;
  • Maintain and follow program policies, procedures, and intake process;
  • Maintain client files and contact information;
  • Assist with client follow-up and follow identified participation plan from victims;
  • Assist with client support as needed;
  • Create and maintain a community service and program referral database;
  • Collect data as required;
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating programming for clients.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 Diploma;
  • Two years experience in office coordination, corrections, or related field in a direct service delivery capacity;
  • Previous experience in file management, case management and client intake;
  • Experience working with the Métis Community is an asset;
  • Experience or training in counseling
  • Past proven experience working with sensitive case files in a confidential manner.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills;
  • Experience working with boards and/or committees is preferred;
  • Knowledge of Métis culture, MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
  • Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle.
