The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratic Government of the Red River Métis - also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.

The Infinity Women Secretariat (IWS) is an affiliate of the MMF whose main purpose is to promote, empower and enhance the social, culture and economic well-being of Metis Women.

The IWS seeks to fill one full-time Youth Outreach Worker position located at 150 Henry Ave in Winnipeg, MB. Reporting to the IWS Spokeswoman, the Youth Outreach Worker uses social media outreach to coordinate IWS communication. The Youth Outreach Worker will be responsible for working with Metis girls, 2SLGBTQ+ women-identifying individuals, and young women, engaging and empowering them within Metis communities across Manitoba.

Job Duties/Competencies:

  • Promote awareness of IWS services, supports, programs, and activities via social media;
  • Support and maintain the IWS Website and social media accounts - Facebook, etc.;
  • Actively promote and develop partnerships to create working relationships and proactively develop projects to address Regional/Provincial Youth needs;
  • Consult with Metis Youth, IWS Board, MMF Local and Regional Offices, communities, and partners on a regular basis to identify youth programing and service needs;
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and facilitation of IWS programs and activities;
  • Prepare program outlines along with providing suggestions on the ongoing planning process;
  • Develop and implement Youth programs via online, hybrid, and in-person workshops within the MMF Regions.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a recognized program in Communications, Youth Work, Business Administration, Social Services, or relevant field;
  • Minimum of 2 years of directly related work experience;
  • Knowledge of Youth programming and initiatives;
  • Experience in the development, facilitation and promotion of youth activities or workshops within the community;
  • Experience with virtual technology, facilitating online and hybrid workshops and creating social media posts;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, OneDrive, PowerPoint, Outlook;
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills;
  • Knowledge of Metis culture and MMF programs and services is an asset; and
  • Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle.
