Liberal Party First to Respond To Metis Vote Election Questions

October 7, 2019

Winnipeg MB, - Today the Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) is pleased to report, the Liberal Party of Canada (LPC) has responded to the MMF's Metis Vote Questions for the Candidates.

"The Metis Vote initiative encourages electors to become voters by providing our Citizens the information and tools they need to vote and make an informed choice when they go to the polls," said MMF Senior Political Analyst, April Hourie. "Knowing each party's platform and how it will affect the Metis Nation is critical when it comes time to cast our ballots."

Earlier this month, the MMF sent a comprehensive list of questions to the federal political parties, asking about policies and promises that will directly affect Métis Citizens, their families and traditional lands.

The questions ranged from issues on health care and education outcomes, to potential investments in housing and employment training.

The responses are then being shared with Métis Citizens through email, social media, mainstream media and on the MMF website.

"I am pleased to see the LPC has taken the time to respond to our questions and that the party's leadership sees the importance of hearing the concerns of the Métis," added Hourie. "I encourage all other parties to follow suit. There are well over one hundred thousand Métis Citizens in Manitoba alone, and more than 4 hundred thousand across Western Canada. We are a significant voter base that should not be ignored."

You can find the responses from the LPC along with other Metis Vote information, including all questions to the candidates, By Visiting The MMF Election Information Website.
