July 29, 2026
Winnipeg, MB, in the National Homeland of the Red River Métis - Today marks an exciting milestone as Louis Riel College (LRC), an educational affiliate of the Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF), National Government of the Red River Métis, proudly celebrates the opening of its very first campus. This achievement represents a bold step toward expanding access to quality education, career development, and lifelong learning for students across Manitoba.
Inspired by the legacy of Louis Riel and guided by the values of the Red River Métis, Louis Riel College is committed to empowering learners through practical, career-focused education. While the College proudly supports and celebrates Red River Métis Citizens, its doors are open to everyone who is ready to invest in their future. LRC welcomes students from all backgrounds who are seeking new opportunities, meaningful careers, and personal growth.
From healthcare and skilled trades to professional development and community-based learning, LRC is dedicated to preparing students with the knowledge and hands-on experience they need to succeed in today's workforce. The College also embraces the rich history, culture, and traditions of the Red River Métis, creating an inclusive learning environment where education and culture go hand in hand.
"What does this new campus and building mean for the future of LRC and the Red River Métis Citizens?"
"This campus represents more than just a building - it represents opportunity," said Minister Remillard, Minister of Education for the MMF. "We are creating pathways for students to achieve their goals while helping to build stronger communities and a stronger workforce for the future."
The future is bright for LRC, working in collaboration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM) to develop an Indigenous-focused diploma in Practical Nursing program, expanding educational opportunities and helping address the growing demand for healthcare professionals throughout Manitoba. This is only the beginning, as LRC continues to grow its programs, partnerships, and commitment to student success.
As LRC opens its first campus, it also opens the door to new possibilities for future generations. Through education, innovation, and a commitment to excellence, LRC is helping shape a brighter future for Red River Métis Citizens and all students who choose to learn, grow, and succeed together.
