MMF Announces New Affordable Housing Unit in St. Boniface

June 2, 2020

Winnipeg, MB - Today, the Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) has announced the launch of a new affordable housing initiative in Winnipeg within the historic community of St. Boniface.

This initiative will see the construction of a new upscale 6-unit multifamily home, located on 184 Eugenie St., that will consist of 5 two-bedroom units and 1 three-bedroom unit.

"We know that St. Boniface is a vibrant, proud community - which, in turn, means it has low vacancy rates," said Will Goodon, MMF Minister of Housing and Property Management. "As such, having access to affordable housing is a priority for St. Boniface and a priority for the Manitoba Metis Government."

The project was brought forward by Jameson Advent of Jameson Enterprises, a Metis-owned business with over 10 years of experience. Jameson Enterprises will be taking on construction of the housing unit.

"We are proud to sign an agreement today for a Metis company to build this exciting new project," said Minister Goodon. "This initiative, and Jameson Enterprises' willingness to partner with the Manitoba Metis Government, is another testament that even in challenging and unknown times, our Metis Nation will always come together to help each other and the greater community."

Construction on the affordable housing unit will begin this summer.
