MMF Donates $75,000 Cheque to St. Boniface Hospital Research - RBC Youth BIOlab

October 17, 2019

Winnipeg, MB - Today, Minister Anita Campbell of the Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) presented a cheque for $75 thousand to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation (SBHF) on behalf of MMF President David Chartrand, following up on a promise made this summer to double its previous donation from the Manitoba Metis Heritage Fund (MMHF). Today's contribution completes MMF's total donation of $150,000 to the SBHF.

As with the MMHF's previous donation, proceeds have been ear-marked for the RBC Youth BIOlab Jeunesse, a space created for students and teachers to explore and experience real biomedical science, located at St. Boniface Hospital Albrechtsen Research Centre.

"Our Youth are our future, and it's our responsibility to give them the tools and education they need to advance our Metis Nation," said President Chartrand. "This donation is an investment in our Metis Community, and Manitoba as a whole. With this cheque, we're encouraging more Youth to pursue careers in science and medicine and work towards better health outcomes for the people we represent."

The Youth BIOlab at St. Boniface Hospital Albrechtsen Research Centre is North America's most unique biomedical teaching lab, focused on community outreach to inspire youth towards a love for science and discovery. More than 70,000 students from every corner of the province have participated since the lab opened in 2013.
