We are pleased to announce the first in a series of Virtual Townhalls as part of our ongoing consultations on the MMF Constitution's Local By-Law. These important conversations will ensure our Constitution continues to reflect the needs of our Citizens and the strength of our self-government for Treaty transition.
Date: November 4, 2025
Time: 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM (CDT)
Platform: Zoom
Agenda: [Download here]
As Minister Judy Mayer emphasized, this process focuses on building the foundations of our future under Treaty, ensuring every Local is equipped to serve Citizens with strength, accountability, and pride.
During the Virtual Townhall, participants will:
- Hear an overview of "What We Heard," regarding changes to our Constitution's Local By-Law connecting the By-Law review to our Treaty Transition.
- Take part in small breakout group discussions (see attached Agenda for more details) to share ideas and experiences on topics such as:
- The purpose and function of Locals within our governance structure
- How Locals can strengthen belonging and participation for Citizens across and beyond Manitoba
- Building accountability, communication, and capacity at the Local level
Your input is vital to help shape the future of our National Government. Your input will directly inform the Governance Committee's drafting of Constitutional amendments for review at Regional Assemblies in 2026 and ratification at the 2026 National Assembly.
Keep an eye on MMF's website and social media channels for registration details and links to join the session. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.
Together, we will ensure our Constitution's Local By-Law reflects the enduring principles of self-government, accountability, and identity that define the Red River Métis.
