Prescription Drug Program

The Prescription Drug Program, launched in 2017, will pay eligible Citizens' MMF calculated deductible throughout the year for Pharmacare-eligible prescription drugs.

Métis citizens aged 55 and older with an annual income of $35,000 or less, who use MEDOCare Pharmacy for prescription dispensing and delivery are eligible for the Prescription Drug Program.

Who is eligible?

Metis Citizens age 55 and older with an annual income of $35,000 or less, and who use MEDOCare Pharmacy for prescription dispensing and delivery.

Why do I need to use MEDOCare Pharmacy?

  • MEDOCare is a partner with the MMF Health and Wellness Department with a shared goal to jointly develop and deliver Metis Health Benefits.
  • MEDOCare and MMF Health and Wellness will each gather data for each program to monitor and measure program effectiveness and implement improvements as necessary.

How do I apply?

Contact your Regional Office to book an intake appointment with one of our staff members.

Application forms and application process information are available at the MMF Regional Offices and through the Metis Community Liaison Department.

Citizens will need to provide the following documentation to support verification of eligibility and calculation of MMF deductible:

  • Proof of age.
  • Metis Citizenship Card.
  • Individual and/or family annual income Canada Revenue Agency Notice of Assessment.
  • Manitoba Pharmacare Notice of Deductible.
  • Third Party Insurer coverage.
  • Signature authorizing MEDOCare Pharmacy as sole deliverer of prescriptions and giving permission for direct communication with Citizen.

Completed application and attachments will be submitted to MMF Health & Wellness Department Attn: Metis Health Benefits.

What if I don’t have my new Citizenship Card?

Seniors who meet all other eligibility criteria for the Prescription Drug Program will be placed on a priority list to recieve their new MMF Citizenship Card.

What if I don’t have my Canada Revenue Notice of Assessment Form?

MMF Regional staff will assist you to obtain your Notice of Assessment from Canada Revenue Agency. This document is something that should be mailed to you a short time after you file your annual income tax return. Your annual income assessment will be required annually to prove you continue to fall within the scope of the program.

How do I get my Pharmacare Notice of Deductible?

MMF Regional staff will assist you with Pharmacare Notice of Deductible. This notice should be mailed to you annually. Your Pharmacare Notice of Deductible will be required annually.

Why do you need my Third Party Insurer information?

A Third Party Insurer may already be covering a portion of your prescription drug costs. This information is needed to inform calculation of MMF deductible.

What happens once my application is submitted?

  • Health & Wellness Department staff will confirm your acceptance into the Prescription Drug Program.
  • With your permission, the MEDOCare Pharmacy staff will contact you directly to welcome you to the pharmacy and attain any additional personal/medical information necessary to fill and deliver your prescriptions.
