RRMVD - Our Core Values

RRMVD is committed to several initiatives as part of its mission to support Red River Métis Veterans, their families, and their caregivers.

Firstly, RRMVD will connect with the grassroots community to identify Red River Métis Veterans and collect more information on Métis Veterans. This commitment demonstrates the importance of engaging with the community to ensure that the needs of Red River Métis Veterans are being met. RRMVD will develop a strategy to effectively reach the target audience, including Veterans and their circles of support.

Secondly, RRMVD is committed to working collaboratively with both internal and external partners to provide access to wraparound services that address the unique needs of veterans.

Thirdly, RRMVD is committed to commemorating the achievements of Red River Métis Veterans whose service and sacrifice while in uniform have inspired the character and values of our country. This commitment demonstrates the importance of recognizing the contributions and sacrifices made by those who have served in uniform.

Lastly, RRMVD is committed to preserving Red River Métis historic sites and military history to help Canadians experience, understand, and appreciate how the courage, determination, and ingenuity of those who served have shaped our country. This commitment demonstrates the importance of educating Canadians about the significant contributions of Red River Métis Veterans to Canada's military history.

RRMVD - Indigenous Veterans Day

Every year, on November 8th, the RRMVD proudly hosts an Indigenous Veterans Day ceremony to honour the remarkable bravery and sacrifice of our Red River Métis Veterans, active service members and their families. In 2022, we partnered with the Royal Canadian Aviation Museum of Western Canada to host our annual ceremony. This past year, we partnered with the Royal Canadian Legion St. Laurent Métis Branch #250, which is the only Métis Legion in Canada. Our Citizens and special dignitaries in attendance held each of these ceremonies in very high regard.
