Health Legislation:
Our team works with the Federal Government to develop distinctions-based legislation based on the principles outlined in UNDRIP. This will create Red River Métis-specific legislation, programming, and services, fostering the health and wellness of all Citizens in-line with our Community's view of wellbeing.

Local Food Infrastructure:
In order to advance food security, Health & Wellness Department worked with several sites across the Homeland building sustainable gardens capable of growing produce and herbs. This will improve food security and access to nutritious options for Red River Métis.

Vaccine Hesitancy:
This project was launched to increase the COVID-19 Vaccine Understanding and Uptake and to reduce vaccine hesitancy within the Red River Métis population. Pathways - Point of Care Testing - A Pilot Type 2 Diabetes Screening Study in Métis Population:
To broaden Type 2 Diabetes screening, particularly in remote areas, this project launched the innovative Mobile Clinic Initiative. This initiative successfully reached Citizens in rural Communities, offering accessible healthcare services, such as diabetes risk assessments as well as point-of-care testing (Blood Sugar/HBA1c, lipid panel assessments).

Métis Regional Health Survey
This survey was a research initiative that placed the health and well-being of Red River Métis Citizens in Manitoba at the heart of its research. We believe that the key to improving healthcare lies within the voices of our Citizens. We identified the gaps in healthcare to assist our Government in developing futures policies in Health Legislation. Thank you to our Red River Métis Citizens who participated in the survey!

Rheumatoid Arthritis and Mental Health:
This project assisted Red River Métis Citizens living with arthritis who may have experienced depression, anxiety, stress, and other mental health concerns. Red River Métis Citizens participated in a new initiative using mind-body intervention sessions such as yoga, mindfulness, and meditation.

Understand Community Experiences with Missing and Murdered Red River Métis Women, Girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ People:
This project collected Red River Métis perceptions of safety and strategies for prevention within the Community. These insights from Red River Métis Citizens will be published in a report and used to identify areas for action to improve safety for our Citizens.
